Transition to Qlik subscription licensing

Qlik subscription only – is this the end of Qlik’s perpetual licensing? Starting April 2021, new Qlik licenses are exclusively available through a subscription model. This applies to Qlik Sense, QlikView, Qlik Data Integration, and other Qlik products.

Changes for Qlik Sense users

Existing Qlik Sense server installations can retain their current licensing. New additional user licenses (professional or analyzer user) or modules such as NPrinting, Qlik Alerting, or Qlik Insight Advisor (chat) can be conveniently rented. It is possible to operate both licensing models simultaneously, essentially creating a mixed model of perpetual licenses with software maintenance and subscription licenses.

Additionally, existing Qlik Sense perpetual licenses can be converted 1:1 into subscription licenses. The annual fees correspond exactly to the previous license maintenance costs. Initially, a three-year subscription is agreed upon, automatically extending by one year upon expiry unless modifications are made.

Customers wishing to switch immediately to Qlik Sense’s powerful cloud solution can transition to the Qlik Sense Enterprise SaaS subscription at no additional cost compared to Qlik Sense maintenance fees, until the end of 2021.

Changes for QlikView users

First of all, there is no obligation to switch your existing QlikView installation to the subscription model. However, if you plan to add new users, a transition to the subscription model or adopting the Qlik Analytics Modernization Program (AMP) will become necessary.

Qlik, like many other providers, is moving towards more flexible subscription models. Admittedly, this development is not entirely self-explanatory, especially for existing customers. Please contact us for a free consultation to ensure your Qlik installation remains future-proof.
